Yahoo decided to shut down handful of products that aren’t really worth the effort to keep them running. This move is a part of new CEO Marissa Mayer’s strategy to get yahoo more centered on just what it lets you do very best.
The soon to be shuttered products include Yahoo’s Blackberry app, yahoo Clues, Yahoo Avatars, Yahoo App Search, Yahoo Sports IQ, Yahoo Updates API and the Yahoo Message Boards website.
Newlook Service and Research Reports were infact closed on April 30th. Bookmarks.Yahoo.com went away on May 26th. People Search is closing today, as is Xobni, which Yahoo just acquired it last year, though it has included features in Yahoo Mail.
Yahoo Toolbar for Chrome is going away on July 22nd, and Yahoo Shine is closing on July 31st. Yahoo Voices will also be shut down that day, and at the end of August, the Contributor Network will be.
This is not the first time Yahoo has made the decision to eliminate items from its overly large lineup-it did the same in March and April 2013.
